Maintaining Your Pool Using A Automatic Pool Cleaner

Automatic pool cleaner robotAs a pool owner – or spa pool owner it is important to keep the water clean and healthy and in the right balance.

Swimming water is always infected with a variety of bacteria and most of these bacteria are introduced by bathing humans (and animals) and the debris from particular trees and other plants in the garden.

In addition, pool water gets in contact with thousands of insects, but with the proper water hygiene, this is not a problem.

Did you know the way that:

  • Active swimming and play can add up to 1 liter of sweat per hour adult person to the water.
  • That 1 ml. saliva can add millions of microorganisms to the water.
  • The water in the pool or spa is added thousands of micro-organisms from mucus in the nose.
  • Surface wounds and infections can infect the water.
  • A dog can add bacteria to the water equivalent to 30 humans.

That is why it is so important that the water in your pool or spa pool is continuously monitored and preferable once a day in periods when the use is very frequent and the water temperature is high. However, this is very simple and you can take advantage of the different kits available in the market. Using a automatic pool cleaner robot, like the Dolphin pool cleaner or similar brands, will greatly improve the water quality. See dealers in “water management” in the Shopping Guide.

Pool Algae Removal

Algae likes the wet environment and with the conditions present in pool water, they can multiply very quickly. For example, heavy rain and many bathers people causes algae to multiply dramatically. However, a properly maintained swimming pool or spa pool, will never seen this. Some algal types cannot be removed by the pool filter and it therefore requires the addition of chemicals (e.g. chlorine) and the right pH balance, to get to grips with these algae. A swimming pool that looks like this is not preferable! Using a automatic pool cleaner robot, like the Dolphin pool cleaner which cleans the pool continuously can greatly reduce the buildup of algae.

How do I get and maintain a good water hygiene?

Chlorine is the most important and active chemical agent used to remove algae and bacteria from your water. It is available mostly as granular, liquid and tablets, in many different variations. The use of chlorine in bath water to disinfect the algae and bacteria from sweat, insects, etc. you can achieve hygienic and inviting pool water. However, when algae attacks are very dramatic, especially from black water algae, as set in the pool bottom and sides, it may be necessary to combine manual pool cleaning with a hard bristled brush to remove algae. Please make sure that any lining should not be damaged from the use of the hard brush. Again an automatic pool cleaner robot, like the Dolphin pool cleaner will be of great help and save you from a lot of work. In the most difficult areas there may be discoloration of the pool sides / lines. Remember that the draining of water from the swimming pool and spa pool must be in drains and not in the garden due to environmental reasons.

But before that chlorine is added, it is essential to check and adjust the waters pH value. The pH scale is from 0 (acid) to 14 (Base) and where 7 is neutral. An optimal pH of pool water is a level of 7.2 to 7.5. PH kits can quickly check the water pH and these kits are available in many variants. If pool water is out of pH balance, it can cause irritation of the eyes and skin, and it also eliminates the effects of chlorine in pool water. Chlorine addition is ineffective if the pH balance is not okay. Moreover, a too high or low pH means that the life of the pump, lines and other pool facilities are shortened significantly due to larger corrosion. It is therefore important to regulate water pH before the addition of chlorine. There are many possibilities to regulate the pH of the water and it depends on which way the pH must be regulated.

NB: Please note that adding chemicals to pool water, including chlorine, may only be done observing the safety instructions in the product manuals. These concerns include that must be respected many (min. 6) hour intervals between addition of ph products and chlorine products to avoid harmful chlorine vapors. See distributors of products to regulate water balance in Chemistry SHOPPING GUIDE.

How to use a Dolphin Pool Cleaner

flower-and-poolThe Dolphin Automatic Pool Cleaner is the most advanced automatic pool cleaner on the market today, and with its artificial intelligence and advanced features the cleaner has set new standards for pool cleaners.

But does this make the Dolphin Pool Cleaner difficult to use or maintain? On the contrary and this post will explain how to maintain the Dolphin Pool Cleaner.

Maintenance of Dolphin Pool Cleaner

Dolphin Diagnostic Residential Pool cleaning robot

Before removing the Dolphin from the water, switch off the power supply. Pull the cable with a steady motion to the surface. Your Dolphin should be lifted out of the water by the handle – not by the cable. When removing the Dolphin from the water, rest the dolphin on the pools edge for a few seconds to allow the water to drain. When out of the water place the Dolphin on its side, not on its brushes and always rinse the filter bag immediately. Slide back locking plates to release bottom lid. Remove filter bag clips and remove the filter support wires. Empty the debris into a garbage can. Reverse the filter back and hose the filter down or machine wash in synthetic rinse. Always clean the filter bag before leaving it to dry. Remove cover and flaps, hose down, and reassemble. Place the clean filter bag on the support wires, make sure the label is on the outside and is placed centrally along the bottom lid. Put the bottom lid assembly back into the body, slide the locking plates under the wire clips.

Other parts that may need cleaning includes the filter screen and impeller blades. Before removing the impeller cover be sure to that the power supply is in the off position. Untwist the impeller cover, to clean around and under the impeller blades.

Don’t forget to change the diagonal position of the handle before storing the Dolphin Pool Cleaner.

Cleaning the pool is for most pool owners the least fun part, but if you really want to enjoy your pool all through the season, there is no way around it. But instead of doing hours of hard work cleaning the pool or spending a fortune on a pool cleaning company, why not consider the automatic pool cleaner robot?

The Dolphin Pool Cleaner comes in many different varieties, each suited for different kids of pools. When choosing which pool cleaner suits your needs, you need to consider the following factors:

  • The size of the pool
  • The shape of the pool
  • The surface of the pool
  • The need for a specific cleaning cycle duration

One of the most popular model for private use is the Smartpool Dolphin 2020 Dynamic Pool Cleaner, which was the one I chose.

The Smartpool Dolphin 2020 Dynamic Pool Cleaner with Remote and Caddy In-Ground Pool Cleaner is designed for residential pools up to 20 x 40 feet. My pool is a little smaller than that, so the pool cleaner should have no problems solving the job.

The assembling did not take long and within 10 minutes it was ready to hit the water. The Dolphin Pool Cleaner really lived up to its reputation: It scrubs and vacuums the entire pool floor, wall, and waterlines. It also includes a joy stick that enables you to manually guide the Dolphin into and out of tight spots and to tailor your own cleaning program for unique pools.

The Smartpool Dolphin 2020 Dynamic Pool Cleaner with Remote and Caddy In-Ground Pool Cleaner is manufactured with 2 drive motors, each driving its own brush to facilitate tight turns.

The Dolphin Pool Cleaner is an outstanding robotic pool cleaner, which is very easy to set up and use. Just take it out of the box and it will be cleaning the pool within minutes! Cleaning of steps in the pool is the pool cleaners weakest point, but this will usually only takes a couple minutes to brush them down manually. Another weak spot is large or stiff leaves (for instance magnolia leaves) or large chucks of leaves. Some leaves are simple to large to go into the cleaner, and might clock up the cleaner. Large leaves should first be removed manually or raked up before cleaning the pool. Once the large leaves is out of the way, the cleaning robot picks up virtually everything else that’s visible to the naked eye, keeping the pool crystal clear.

All in all I can only recommend the Dolphin Pool Cleaner – in this case the Smartpool Dolphin 2020 Dynamic Pool Cleaner.
