DETERGENT HOTWATER AND OXICLEAN IT WORKS GREAT.
I use to take mine off and drizzle dishwashing liquid on it on scrub it with a brush and then rinse it off. If it’s got mildew on it just add a little bleach.
I don’t know why not. If you run into some mold or mildew, a little bleach wouldn’t hurt either. Just spread it out in the yard and scrub away and rinse with the hose.
